Guillotte family
Now, about Voorburg! What a great experience my family had living there. My neighbors were so nice, especially the Poorts, the Evenblijs, and the van Rossums. I will always remember Françoise driving her Peugeot up on the the sidewalk and calling to me "Bar Bar A, bonjour". She was quite a character. But, Joan Poort was the one who made us feel so welcomed. Ineke was so busy with her kids and work, but we were good neighbors. Loved Siem as he was so casual with us and talked a lot with Paul. I, especially, enjoyed being at number 40 with Joan and Coert. So down to earth was Coert and so easy to be visiting with both of them. Wow, New Year's Eve on the street. So they still have bonfires? Greg has never experienced anything like that before or since. |

Loved the shopping on the Parkweg and the shopkeepers were so considerate of our awful attempts at speaking Dutch. But we tried! Wasn't Greg just great with the language. Ineke always said that he spoke like a dutch child. But after all, he took two years of Dutch in school there and ad all his friends in the neighborhood. Paul could never master the "Tot Ziens" and was always embarrassing Greg. |

Looking from my bedroom balcony to the horse-drawn wagon. The farmer is picking up our weekly bag of potato peelings, etc. |

I must say that living in Voorburg was one experience that I will never forget. Living in England was so close to living like Americans, but Holland was special. Foreign but wonderful. |
